APPOINTMENT OF A SERVICE PROVIDER FOR THE PROCURMENT OF ADDITIONAL OPENTEXT DATA PROTECTOR SOFTWARE LICENSES AND SUPPORT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF LAND REFORM AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT FOR A THREE (3)YEAR PERIOD
1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLRRD) requires the services of a suitably qualified service provider to supply additional Opentext Data Protector Software Licenses and support for a period of three (3) years. 2. BACKGROUND 2.1. The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) within DLRRD is responsible for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) service delivery and support for the department. 2.2. Data Protector Licenses are used to optimise data and recovery process, they perform load balancing to ensure that data is evenly distributed across all available hard drives within our environment. These licenses are necessary in the operation of the Data Protector backup solution. 2.3. In order to ensure compatibility with the Department’s existing backup infrastructure, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen data security and integrity across all systems a service provider is required for appointment through a competitive Bid Process. The appointed service provider will be responsible to supply Data Protector licenses and support for a period of three (3) years.
